SELF-GUIDED PRACTICE
How to practice
- Keep your eyes open and let the room or outdoor space be the main anchor.
- Name five things you can see, noticing color, shape, distance, and edges.
- Name four things you can feel, such as your feet, clothing, chair, or air on the skin.
- Name three sounds, including both nearby and distant sounds, without judging them.
- Notice two smells or simply the temperature and movement of air at the nose.
- Notice one taste, or the neutral feeling inside the mouth if no taste is present.
- If thoughts pull you away, return to one concrete sensory detail and describe it plainly.
- Finish by feeling the body supported by the ground, chair, or wall for a few breaths.
Stay comfortable. You can stop at any time or return to your natural breath.
