About this meditation
4-7-8 Breathing uses a short inhale, a longer hold, and an even longer exhale. The extended out-breath emphasizes slowing and release, while the count prevents the mind from rushing through the cycle. Settling becomes linked to rhythm and breath length. It is useful when preparing for rest, as long as the hold is gentle and never strained. The ratio makes relaxation concrete instead of vague.
Keep your practice comfortable. You can pause, stop, or return to natural breathing whenever you need.
