SELF-GUIDED PRACTICE
How to practice
- Lie down with knees bent or sit with the back supported and shoulders relaxed.
- Place one hand on the upper chest and one hand on the lower ribs or belly.
- Let the inhale widen the lower ribs and gently lift the belly while the upper chest stays quiet.
- Exhale slowly and feel the belly and ribs soften back toward the body.
- Keep the breath smooth, low, and comfortable rather than large or forced.
- If the shoulders lift, pause and restart with a smaller inhale.
- Practice for several minutes, letting the hands teach you where the breath is moving.
- Finish by breathing naturally and noticing whether the trunk feels softer or steadier.
Stay comfortable. You can stop at any time or return to your natural breath.
