SELF-GUIDED PRACTICE
How to practice
- Sit upright and let the breath stay natural rather than controlled.
- Choose whether one count means a full inhale-exhale cycle or each exhale, then keep that method consistent.
- Count silently from one to ten, placing each number lightly on the chosen part of the breath.
- Feel the breath sensations while counting so the number does not become purely mental.
- When you reach ten, begin again at one.
- If you lose the count, skip a number, or realize you were thinking, restart calmly at one.
- Do not use the count as a score; it is simply a way to notice attention clearly.
- End by dropping the numbers and feeling several natural breaths.
Stay comfortable. You can stop at any time or return to your natural breath.
