SELF-GUIDED PRACTICE
How to practice
- Sit upright and relax the shoulders, jaw, and belly before beginning.
- Use the right thumb to close the right nostril and inhale slowly through the left nostril.
- Close the left nostril with the ring finger, release the right nostril, and exhale through the right.
- Inhale through the right nostril, then close it with the thumb.
- Release the left nostril and exhale through the left; this completes one round.
- Continue slowly for several rounds, keeping the breath smooth and quiet rather than forceful.
- Skip breath holds unless you are experienced and they feel completely comfortable.
- Stop if you feel congested, dizzy, pressured, or short of breath, and return to normal breathing.
Stay comfortable. You can stop at any time or return to your natural breath.
